Kajabi vs Teachable - The Ultimate Comparison [2024 Updated]
In this blog post, we have shared an ultimate comparison of Kajabi vs Teachable to help you make an informed decision when choosing one.
Drawing a comparison between Kajabi and Teachable is a complex task. Both platforms can create and market online courses, but Kajabi differentiates itself by presenting an all-in-one solution for building your online business.
With features including website creation, landing pages, marketing funnels, email campaigns, and payment processing, Kajabi provides a comprehensive suite of tools to create online courses, podcasts, membership sites, coaching programs, and more.
On the other hand, Teachable primarily enables creating and selling of online courses, digital downloads, and coaching services, although these can be packaged together.
To explore how Kajabi and Teachable compare, I have tested and written about Teachable previously. For this article, I enrolled in and evaluated the mid-tier version of each platform, running various scenarios to assess their effectiveness in creating and marketing courses.
Additionally, I will discuss how you can automate your online course registration and follow-up. Grab your cup of coffee and read on to learn!
Kajabi is an online platform that provides all-in-one solutions for people who want to create and sell digital products. It offers many features that allow creators to quickly build and manage online courses, membership sites, landing pages, and marketing campaigns. With Kajabi, users can create custom themes and designs, automate email marketing, and track their students' progress.
Whereas, Teachable is a platform that allows you to create and sell online courses. It is an all-in-one solution that covers everything from course creation and management to payment processing and student enrollment. The platform is easy to use and requires no coding or technical skills. You can create courses using a variety of multimedia formats, including video, audio, text, and images. Teachable also provides tools for creating quizzes, assignments, and discussion forums, making engaging with your students and assessing their progress easy.
Online course platforms let you create and deliver courses to engage students. Kajabi and Teachable both support various content types and offer course builders, but Kajabi allows subcategories and provides more customization options for themes and elements. Kajabi also offers better mobile learning experiences with its iOS and Android apps.
Teachable and Kajabi offer free hosting, an SSL certificate, and maintenance services. Kajabi has a library of themes and an easy-to-use page builder. In contrast, Teachable has a default template, fewer pre-built sections in their page builder, and basic blogging capabilities.
Kajabi's page builder is more powerful and flexible, with better blogging functionality. Kajabi allows complete white-labeling, while Teachable does not remove their subdomain from checkout, signup, and login pages. Kajabi wins the site design and customization competition.
Sales and marketing are vital components of online course platforms, with similar features such as creating coupons, bundling courses, and charging one-time or recurring fees. However, Teachable and Kajabi differ in their focus on sales and marketing capabilities. While Teachable provides essential payment processing and course selling features, Kajabi offers a comprehensive suite of sales and marketing tools within one platform.
Both platforms offer multiple pricing options and payment processing through Stripe and PayPal, but Kajabi allows PayPal payments regardless of currency, while Teachable does not. Kajabi offers more flexibility in creating pricing tiers and features like automation for gift options.
Teachable offers two payment gateway options, one enabling payments even if Stripe or PayPal isn't supported in certain countries. The second option includes a suite of services called BackOffice that can be useful for many affiliates and authors.
Both platforms offer 1-step checkout processes, with Kajabi providing more customization options and conversion tools for checkout and upsell pages.
This section will focus on the options available for tracking student and course performance and managing the course website in both Kajabi and Teachable.
Both platforms provide course reporting tools that allow you to track your student's progress. You can view your students' completion percentage for each course and easily export this data.
The only difference is that Teachable requires you to access the report for each course individually, whereas Kajabi offers a single report that can be filtered for a specific course. Additionally, Kajabi's report can be filtered based on user segments, which is helpful if you sell to organizations and need to create custom progress reports for them.
Kajabi and Teachable also allow viewing your student's quiz scores and tracking video metrics, such as engagement and play rates.
When it comes to sales reporting, both platforms enable you to track your transactions and manage them. However, Kajabi offers better sales analysis tools. You can compare your daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly sales and your sales by offers.
Kajabi also provides more robust reporting tools for subscriptions, allowing you to track metrics like Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR), Average Revenue Per User (ARPU), and Churn Rate.
These metrics cannot be tracked on Teachable. Additionally, Kajabi enables you to track your page views, which cannot be done natively on Teachable and requires a tool like Google Analytics.
Both platforms let you manage students' information, purchases, progress, and subscriptions. Admin users can also be added. Teachable allows adding authors to courses and revenue sharing, while Kajabi does not, which is vital for multi-author platforms.
Based on my extensive experience interacting with both platforms' support teams on behalf of clients, Kajabi's customer support is more responsive and provides better-quality responses.
The most significant difference is Kajabi's 24/7 live chat support, while Teachable offers little live chat only on certain pricing tiers. Both platforms have a comprehensive knowledge base and customer training programs, including weekly webinars and user communities.
Now, coming up to the pricing of both platforms.
Kajabi has 3 plans with unlimited hosting, bandwidth, and video storage, starting at $119/month.
Teachable has flexible pricing with unlimited students and courses, starting at $39/month with transaction fees.
Kajabi is expensive but offers multiple tools in one platform. One client saved money and time after switching to Kajabi. Your choice depends on your needs and budget.
By this point, you should have a good understanding of the features and capabilities of each platform and how they align with your business needs and budget. With careful analysis, you can confidently select the ideal platform.
